What Causes Shivering, Fever, Headache And Loose Motions?

Hi, My mom is 55years old and she has been suffering from motions, fever, shivering, headache and body pains for the past 4 days. Now fever and motions are stopped. Malaria/typhiod not found in blood test. but PLENTY pus cells, Albumin [indicated as ++] were present in Urine test. Cefcem 200,JFLO 400, PARAGE Tabs are using now. but there is no reduction of Body pains,shivering and Headache. Please let me know this symptoms indicate any serious desease? Thanks Girish

I really appreciate your concern for your mom.

pus cells and albumin in urine test in the backdrop of symptoms you have mentioned, there is a high possibility of UTI (urinary tract infection).

She is taking right medicines, but if you don't any response to these medicines than there are chances of antibiotics resistant organism causing this problem, in such case I would advise her for urine culture and sensitivity test and a course of antibiotics according to the result of the report.

Meanwhile ask her to have plenty of fluids orally.

You should give her ORS and glucose water or lemon water mixed with salt and sugar if she is not hypertensive of non diabetic, because body pain and shivering might be related to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances caused by loose motions.

For headache you can give her paracetamol for symptomatic relief.
