I am 34 years old, i have been surfing since I was 11. Now when I go I get shocking sensations in both my arms at the same time. The first time I thought there was something in the water, like a power line, it was that strong, then i thought it could be lightning coming. No one else around me felt it so i figured it was me.No injuries, surgeries, I am in better than average shape, and no drugs. What could this be/
The first thing that comes to mind specifically is something called cervical stenosis. This is a narrowing of the spinal canal in the upper of lower part of the neck region (area of the cervical vertebrae). It can have the effect of producing either numbness or even pain, sometimes a shocking like sensation, in both the upper arms, based on how the neck is positioned.
Typically this is issue the pain or discomfort is entirely positional and can be reproduced with flexing or extending the neck in a certain position. This is usually diagnosed on cervical spine imaging (CT scan or MRI) but your symptoms certainly do have the typical presentation of this condition.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
