What Causes Shortness Of Breath While Suffering From Anemia?

My mother is 86 years old and recently suffered a blood clot in her leg do to A-Fib. She has been diagnosed with anemia and is in a rehab facility to build her strength. However she still tires easily and gets winded, but recovers as soon as she sits down, but with the shortness of breath she gets a little confused.

As long as she has anemia she will suffer from this shortness of breath. When she corrects anemia all of this symptoms will disappear.
