What Causes Shortness Of Breath?

I had rheumatic Fever at age 12 & am now 82. Have had not any problem since. Since June have had shortness of breath. Am on inhalers. Heart Dr. Wants to do an angiogram. Have had an echocardiogram, a nuclear stress test. Supposedly they are claiming thickness in wall of heart causing pressure in my lung. Should I have this test. I am fearful.

Hi,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned there is no problem in doing angiogram and it will rule out any atrial blockage if present. Take treatment for cardiomyopathy as advised by your doctor and do one blood test [B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP)].

Hope that helps
