What Causes Sinus Cold Like Symptoms After Novacaine Shot?

While I was at the dentist today when she shot the novacaine into the front of my mouth right under my uper lip it made me sneeze instantly and also made it impossible to open my eyes. Now I m experienceing sinus cold symptoms. Is this normal and why?

Pretty normal. The nerves of the mouth and sinuses are wired pretty closely together. Stimulation of the roof of the mouth affects them. This is why very cold ice applied to the top of the mouth will cause sinus pain (brain freeze). Stimulation of the nerves more commonly causes sensations, but can also trigger irritation, sneeze, and secretions.
