What Causes Sinus Infection And Continual Coughing After Taking Amoxicillin?
I was diagnosed with strep a few days ago. I am on 500mg. Amoxicillin, twice a day. But, I have an ongoing sinus infection and continual coughing which brings up brown phelm. As well, I can t sleep because of the fever, discomfort, coughing and congestion. Is this typical or should I return to clinic to see if I may have pneumonia? I was seen at a cvs mini-clinic on Thursday, today is Sunday.
Strep doesn't cause cough and sinus infection like you're describing. If you're having a sinus infection, the amoxicillin just might not be strong enough for it. It would take care of the strep, but not the sinusitis. You could also have pneumonia. It sounds like you need a stronger antibiotic, so it is best you return to the clinic to be sure and also get a new prescription. They can also check you for an asthma-like reaction which causes broncho spasm and coughing during a respiratory infection. Hope this helps.
