What Causes Skin Hives?

Hi My grand daughter woke this morning broke out in hives all over her body they started yesterday . But they were worse this morning Im just wondering if she may be allerigtic to the clothes soap or if she may have the measles I have pictures that maybe could help you thank you Donna

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your granddaughter have symptoms of skin hives which are due to body's response to the trigger factor.

Need not to worry. Stay in cool environment. I would suggest you to give cold compresses to hives several times a day to prevent from swelling and itching and take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl. The most important thing is to find the trigger factor. If symptoms still persist then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. Doctor may prescribe other steroid cream, anti inflammatory drug or drugs that can suppress immune system. Doctor may perform skin test and challenge to find out the trigger factor.
