What Causes Sleep Disorder While On Trazodone For Depression?

I was switched form elavil for depression supplement and sleep. I am now on lamictal, zoloft, and the beginning titration of trazadone. Since the trazadone its difficult to get to sleep(3-4 hrs) . An if I do get to sleep I have the most bizarre dreams, vivid, at times wake up feeling like the dream was real. Takes a couple of minutes to realize it was just a dream. I have been treated with severe depression and PTSD. Is all this normal? Plus my emotions are all over the place. I don t see my Psychiatrist for 3 more weeks
