What Causes Sleeping Issues In Infants?

My baby is 2 months old and does not sleep well in the nights. We are in a nuclear family and so Me and my wife need to sleep so that we can work through the next day. After 1 week of sleepless/ low sleep nights we consulted a pediatrician who has prescribed Atarax 6 drops twice daily for the baby (6pm and 11pm)
We need to know 1> if we are sedating our baby ?
2> is it dangerous ?
3> if there are side effects ?
4> What is the solution to this ?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Atarax is an antihistaminic and usually causes some sedation.
It is not dangerous if given in therapeutic dose for a short period.
Side effect is mild sedation.
Stop the drug soon the child is OK.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
