What Causes Sleeplessness And Mild Fever While On Triamterene?
Even after a good nights sleep and drinking plenty of water I am totally listless and go back to be. I have been running a mild fever that fluctuates between normal and 99.6. Decreased appetite. My wife died of pancreatic cancer about two weeks ago and of course this is a great loss to me after 59 years of a very loving marriage. My primary care physician at Mayo prescribed Triamterene to be taken once daily for slightly high blood pressure and fluid retention in both legs. I was subjected to a lot of sleeplessness nights while administering medication to my wife every four hours around the clock. I don t want to show up at Emergency for nothing if this is not serious but I am concerned. Even at the age of 84 I am usually filled with energy but not any longer.
With such a presentation in my clinic, I would first ruled out infection as you have mild fever by doing your complete blood count and if any bacterial infection is suspected then you will be given antibiotics. Do take blood pressure medication as usual.
So do a [CBC] of blood and tell your family doctor to prescribe medication for it.
Hope that helps
