What Causes Sleeplessness And Tiredness While Treating Visual Hallucinations?
My father is 78 years old and was admitted into the hospital for hallucinations. They have given him meds to help him sleep, but it’s not working. When he gets sleep, he seems to be more himself, but for some reason he can’t sleep and he is so tired. What do we do? He’s talking out of his head, sometimes he doesn’t know who we are. The hospital done several tests including UTI and for infection. He has a bad heart. Please help!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I have read your query, many times inadequate sleep results in hallucinations. These symptoms will get resolved if adequate sleep is obtained. You need to consult a Clinical Psychologist or a Psychiatrist 'cause your father needs medications else symptoms may complicate to paranoia. In the meantime keep him well hydrated with ORS & nutritious food to maintain the electrolyte balance.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
