What Causes Sleeplessness When Suffered With A Stroke?

hi doc! my mother is 72 years old,4.9 cm, 50kls, she got stroke last august 10,2011 and admitted to hospital til Sept 8, now she is in our home,her left side body got paralized, and sometimes she could not sleep at night.Why she could not sleep at night when she got stroke?

It is not necessary that insomnia may be due to stroke directly but it may lead to post traumatic stress disorder that is taking away her sleep..or it may be age related as well. I would suggest that she should receive mild anxiolytics like rivotril 0.5 mg daily at night.
