Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Paroxetine (Paxil) since 1987. I have trouble falling asleep until the wee hours of the morning. My new doctor knows I take it and he prescribed Amitriptylin 25mg to help me sleep. I researched online and it says this new medicine is for depression and should not be taken with the Paroxetine. Is this something I should bring up and should I continue taking the Amitriptylin at night. It really doesn t help me sleep at all.
“As” per your medication history is concerned both medication [Paroxetine+Amitriptylin]should not be taken together so discuss with your treating doctor regarding this matter and if required he will change medication. Regarding sleeplessness go to exactly pathological causes so do one [polysomnography]test to rule out sleep apnea first.
Hope that helps
