What Causes Slight Pain In The Right Chest?

Hello, I am a 57yr old female, not overweight, do not smoke and drink moderately to low. Since June i have had discomfort in the middle of my chest and when I did drink a low alcohol drink I felt like my insides were on fire. It lasted about 30mins and after drinking water finally went. However, I am now getting small pains, every two to three minutes in my right chest. They come and go. I am awaiting a barium swallow but I am more worried about heart problems as there is a history on my fathers side. I am awaiting blood test results but seriously think I shouldn't be leaving it till something happens. Can you assist. Thank you. Maureen Fox

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely oesophagitis. An upper GI endoscopy is advised for accurate diagnosis. It is caused mostly due to acid reflux. For treating such case i advise proton pump inhibitors like Rabeperazole and antiemetics like domperidone.Antibiotics also given if infection is suspected.Avoidance of spicy foods alcohol carbonated drinks hard foods and tobacco should be avoided.Add more soft foods such as cooked cereals, mashed potatoes, custards, puddings, and high protein shakes to your diet.Taking Vitamin C also is good for fast healing.Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further query.
