What Causes Slow And Untidy Handwriting With Tremors In Children

hi my 9 year old daughter is slow and untidy with her writing. She is average weight and height. Loves swimming, art, history, geography and science. She seems to prefer the subjects with visual aids instead of all written ones. She seems to have a tremor when she writes or paints something small. She is afraid she is falling behind in school as a result. Other than this she is well. Is there anything I can do to help besides encouraging her. She sometimes complains her hand gets sore when she writes. She has had scans done and nothing turned up.She is not on any medication and has always been well

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for asking.
I can understand your concerns.
In my opinion she may have essential or familial tremors. She may benifit with propranolol.Kindly consult a paediatric neurologist.
Also try putting a weight on her wrist and see if she improves. Promot her fine motor skills like beading, scissor activities etc.
If the tremors are affecting her acedemic skills you may ask the school to allow her use of the computer instead of writing.
I hope I have helped you.
Thank you.
