What Causes Sore And Dry Throat In The Mornings?

i am 25 year old female. recent URI symptoms-swollen glands along jaw/neck, sore throat, clogged ears, lost voice, slight fever, runny nose, cough. symptoms have resolved, however slight cough persists and feeling like there is a lump in my throat for past 3 days. no lump visible externally. wake up in the mornings with extremely dry thoat that improves throughout the day, but returns at night. i do smoke about quarter pack of cigarrettes a day. no alcohol or drug use. thank you.

Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of URI and attendant symptoms as you explained which have settled to a certain extent.
But the cough and feeling of lump in the throat persists.
And also the dry throat.
Dry throat can be due to antihistamines, dehydration, infection, smoking, exposure to the the irritants throughout the day .
I would advise you to reduce the dosages of the antihistamines, have steam inhalations, maintain hydration, continue the antibiotics, stop smoking, and you will be fine soon.


This also give feeling of a lump,
