What Causes Sore Head And Tingling Sensation After Head Injury?

I hit my head 9 days ago when my garage door (wooden) closed and smacked me on the top of my head. I didn't pass out or bleed, just stunned - the garage door still closed! I put ice on it right after. A week later, I'm still a little sore and, now, have a tingly feeling. I have been refused med insurance due to not long ago taking Embrel for Psoriasis. So, I am without an opinion or CT scan without a major headache (no pun intended). Still sharp, but want to make sure I'm okay in the long run.

Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. You had head injury 9 days back. It was a low velocity hit. You are conscious, oriented and able to do your activities. All these points are in favour of
" Mild head injury".

You did a good thing - applied ice pack at injury site. It must have taken care of swelling and pain.

Your only concern is "little soreness and tingling" which is still present. For it, you can

- Take rest

- Take painkiller like diclofenac or Tylenol after proper prescription.

- Apply icepacks if there is swelling at injury site.

Do not worry about CT head. Currently, your medical condition is good and you don't need any CT head.

If your headache worsens along with vomiting, then you should get CT head done. It is needed to rule out subacute intracranial bleed. If small bleed, it will be managed conservatively. If large bleed with mass effect, surgery might be needed.

Hope it will clear your doubts. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
