What Causes Sore Throat And Swelling In The Thyroid Gland?
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's a few months ago. I am on a low dose of Synthroid (50mgs) and still having alot of difficulty. I stay painfully tired most days, and have recurrent chest pain, neck pain, headaches, dizziness, sleepiness, and overall soreness that feels similar to flu-like symptoms. I also have recurring sore throats and swelling of my thyroid gland that is visible and uncomfortable, and seems to interfere with my breathing. Are these symptoms a normal part of Hashimoto's and is there any way to treat this disease naturally and permanently?
Hello, I read carefully your concern. During the course of the Hashimoto thyroiditis it may happen to have enlargement and tenderness of the thyroid gland that may last for months. But first you should see a physician in person to rule out other causes of the enlargement of the gland such as: Thyroid nodules. Subacute thyroiditis is also associated with tenderness and symptoms of the flu. Regarding to the naturally treatment of Hashimoto you may talk the possibility of adding selenium in your therapy, it may help to lower the antiboides. It will be a pleasure to help you further. Kind regards, Dr,Mirjeta
