What Causes Soreness And Pain In The Jaw?

I broke my jaw in 2 places back in 2010 had 3 plates put in (one on each side and one in the middle on the inside of my jaw. I still get odd cramps on my neck/jaw area, soreness on the jaw joint, and a popping sound when i open my mouth along with soreness in my jaw... is this normal after all this time? Does it ever go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Most of my patients have cramps and soreness a long time after fixation of the jaw. Its fine as long as you don't have reduced mobility of your mouth or intense pain. Nevertheless I would advice you to visit you physician if the symptoms escalates.
Hope I have answered all your queries. If you have any further questions I would be happy to help.
