What Causes Spine Pain And Headache With Low Folic Acid?

Hi, my spine has been hurting everyday for 2 weeks now. It s causing me a lot of discomfort. This, along with a crushing headache everyday too. These aren t like normal headaches, it s a constant burning pain and mainly at the back of my head. I ve noticed a dent either side of my forehead too which I m pretty sure haven t been there until now. Also a large vein has appeared and doesn t go away on the right side of my forehead, pretty sure that wasn t there either until this all started. Also, I d like to add I m been experience nerve pain for over a month now that started mainly in my fingers and a bit in my wrists and toes. But over recent weeks it s just in my wrists and it s a constant burning sensation, like pins and needles feel to it. I had a blood test and it showed I was low in folic acid. I have a doctors appointment in a weeks time and hopefully she ll book me in with a neurologist. But for now I m really worried. And wondering if it the spine pain and headaches could be related to the nerve pain. Thanks, hope to hear from you.

Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

You may have a condition known as OCCIPITAL NEURALGIA. The dents are of no significance and even more because of the fact there is symmetry. Low? Or Abnormally low? Usually folate is hard to be deficient in so I'd also check B12 and B1 as well. I'd be happy to get into more details on your headaches since that is my subspecialization in the field of Neurology. Please rate this a 5 STAR CONSULT and write to me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi with more questions.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi, Neurologis
