What Causes Sporadic Dry Cough In An Elderly Person?
I have had a dry sporadic cough for 9-12 months. There is no pattern to it at all, other than that it is daily. I feel stupid going to my doctor because there s no fever, no congestion, no pain, ect. I ve gotten use to it,but family is always telling me to go to the doctor. Just was talking to a friend and was coughing. She said I should check into a milk allergy. But can you really develop an allergy to something you ve drank daily for 58 years? And is there a blood test to see if it is that? Thanks
General & Family Physician, Dr. Sushant's Response
In my opinion the cough could be due to reflux and/or dehydration. Milk allergy looks to be unlikely. Maintain adequate hydration and can consider taking some antacids.
