What Causes Spots And Hard Lumps On Back After Having Spinal Fusion?
I had a spinal fusion and there's a couple of spots on my back that I can feel hard lumps, one much larger than the other. They aren't really tender, just feels like something hard. I just kind of assumed they're the screws, but could they be something else? I don't think they really cause me any pain, other than that sometimes my right shoulder gets sharp pains.
Regarding the tender spots in your back, they could be related to the bones or chronic degeneration of the spinal column.
While the sharp pains seem to be related to pinched nerves in this region.
Coming to this point, I do not think that there is anything to worry about. Anyway, I would recommend to periodically check your spine with X ray study to see if everything is OK and the screws are in their right position.
For the sharp pains, if they persist, I would recommend staring gabapentine for some months.
Hope to have been helpful! Best wishes, Dr. Aida
