What Causes Spotting During Periods?

Hi, i am 48 years old, my periods were regular till last month. This month i was due on 27th jan, on that day i felt i got my periods, it was like a drop, next day also, it was just a drop, then on 3rd and 4th day, just dark brown spots. Is it normal or do i have to take medicine or consult the doctor.

Can you please advice.
