What Causes Spotting Instead Of Periods And Clear Vaginal Discharge After?

Hello, Doctor I was due for my period last month on 10/25/2014. I started spotting on 10/24/2014 and a few days after not enough to even fill a panty liner,,I had sex on 10/22/2014. I did a pregnacy test it came back neg. On 11/12/2014 I had a obgyn appointment she did a papsmear , also a urine pregnacy test it came back neg. also send me for blood work and a vaginal ultrasound,,, the tech told me I had thick lining and a 1 inch cyst,,, she said it could be my period coming or if I was trying to conceive,,, I won't get the results till monday 11/17/2014... also, on 11/15/2014 I had clear mucus coming out of my,,, I am sooo anxious can that be I am pregnant and that so call cyst is my becoming baby??? Please help

Hello there,
Thank you for the question. I can understand your concern.
When the urine pregnancy test comes negative it is unlikely that you are pregnant. On an ultrasound a growing fetus is called a gestational sac and not a cyst. The scan report can differentiate this easily. There should not be any confusion and they must be able to see the scan film and tell you if it is a growing baby. If they havent then it looks like you are not pregnant. Repeat a urine pregnancy test after 2 days. If it is still negative then its confirmatory. You may be having some hormonal imbalance because of which you are having this delayed period. It would have helped to know your age. But anyway if you are pregnant then so early in the pregnancy it can be easily terminated if that is your concern. Till then try not to worry as stress will delay your period further.
