What Causes Spotting Instead Of Periods?

Hi my name is Elizabeth,my periods was supposed to start on 22nd but instead i got only morning spotting for three days, that is i spot only when i wake up but the 23rd(second day of the period) day there was no spotting at all but the spotting went on to 25. I was diagnosed 2 months ago with PCOS but last month i had a normal period. The first day of period i almost fainted in the morning and i havent been eating meat for i feel sick when i each meat or some foods. I was maybe thinking either am pregnant or the pcos medicines had some side effects. I started on my letrozole on 25th as asked by the doctor since me and my husband are trying to get baby but i dont know if i should continue with letrozole. Please advice.

Hello,

I have seen the attached image. The pinkish discharge in your case can be due to two reasons.

1. Normal premenstrual spotting due to hormonal changes --Any physical or emotional stress, sudden weight change, etc, can cause hormonal changes.

In all probability, you will be starting your period in a day or two. You need not worry about this.

2. Are you sexually active? If so then there is a possibility of pregnancy. This could be implantation bleeding. Get a pregnancy test done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
