What Causes Spotting While Urinating?

Hi Doctor, I ve been spotting (lightly), when I urinate this has been happening for the past two days. I haven t been drinking water as I should, and I seem to have the spotting issue when I miss drinking water. I ve also noticed that my urine has a cloudy look at the bottom of the toilet after urination. Today I ve had a fair share of water and noticed that I dont have pain and the spotting is gone. Could my problem be due to lack of water, or something more serious?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello,

Dehydration does not cause the blood in the urine. most likely what you have is a urinary tract infection and what we call hemorrhagic cystitis.

Definitely, you need to get a urinalysis and possibly a prescription for an antibiotic or at least three days only.

In the meantime continue to drink a lot of water round 2 to 3 liters of water a day until you get a urine sample examined.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Manuel C See IV, Urologist
