Hi,

Stabbing pain in the lungs can be caused by a variety of factors, some of which may be serious. It is important to see a healthcare provider to determine the cause and appropriate treatment. The fact that you have a history of lung cancer makes it especially important to have these symptoms evaluated promptly.

Possible causes of lung pain include inflammation or infection of the lung tissue, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, or pleurisy. Other possible causes include a blood clot in the lung, a collapsed lung, or lung cancer. It is also possible that the pain may be unrelated to the lungs and may be caused by musculoskeletal issues or nerve damage.

Your healthcare provider will likely recommend further testing, such as a chest X-ray or CT scan, to evaluate the cause of your symptoms. They may also perform blood tests or other diagnostic tests to rule out other potential causes.

In the meantime, if you experience any difficulty breathing, chest pain or pressure, or other severe symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
