What Causes Stiffness And Clunking Noise In Left Knee Post Tibia Incision?

HELLO, I M DEALING WITH STIFFNESS AND A LOUD CLUNK NOISE IN MY LEFT KNEE AFTER ACL RECON/MENISCUS REPAIR AROUND THE INCISION AT THE TIBIA. (ALLOGRAFT) ITS BEEN 10 MONTHS AND I HAVE EXTENSION AND FLEXION BUT ITS STILL STIFF AND FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE. I M AFRAID THAT THERE MAY BE EXCESS SCAR TISSUE AND I MAY NEED A SCOPE TO CLEAN THAT UP. MY QUESTION IS, WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME FOR THIS TYPE OF SURGERY(FROM WALKING TO ACTIVE) AND CAN THE SCAR TISSUE COME BACK?(ASSUMING I M AGGRESSIVE IN PT) THANK YOU

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The stiffness and clunk noise in left knee post tibia surgery of allograft indicates scar contracture most likely. In my clinic, after detailed physical evaluation, possible MRI check up is must in usual cases to format the curative guidelines. Though primary relief with assisted physiotherapy is always beneficial.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
