What Causes Stiffness And Cramps In The Neck Post A Penicillin Shot?

Hi - I have been diagnosed with strep throat and started a penicillin regimen. After 12 hrs of penicillin, my neck started to cramp. The following day, my neck is very stiff and I cannot fully rotate my head. Could this be related to my illness or likely something separate - did I just sleep on it wrong? Thanks! I am a 37 yr old woman, diagnosed on Sunday 8/14. I can be reached at YYYY@YYYY . Thanks for your help!

Hi,

The most common cause of a stiff neck is a muscle strain. This is not a penicillin side effects or something related to your illness. Some self-care strategies are rest, applying ice during 48 hours and ibuprofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
