What Causes Stiffness And Sorness On Elbow After An Injury?

Thank you About 5 days ago I bumped my left elbow. Ever since then I have been experiencing what seems to be muscle soreness and stiffness in the top part of my lower arm. The top bone of my elbow is sore to the touch. What could this be and what can be done for the pain? I have been taking ibuprofen with some relief but the stiffness is still there when I try to straighten my arm.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
You have suffered blunt trauma to elbow with swelling and stiffness most likely it can be sprain or underlying minor fracture. Since you take ibuprofen and pain is still not relieved I think it is mostly occult fracture. I would like to advise radiograph of elbow anteroposterior and lateral views to rule out bony injury. Visit expert orthopaedic surgeon and get yourself examined. Meanwhile start applying cold compress to elbow. Take tablet indomethacin 25mg thrice a day. Apply crepe bandage to your elbow and avoid excessive movements for a week and hope for the best.
