What Causes Stiffness In The Bones While On Arimidex?

I am on the Arimidex as a result of a very, very small tumor found during my mamogram in Feb/2015. The surgeon excised it out and also took 1 lumph node which was negative. Does Arimidex cause a person to have no ambition or drive to do anything. I struggle every day to try to accomplish something such as a simple thing as cleaning my house or every days chores. It seems like it started a while after being on the drug but has gotten worse over time. I have been on the drug since April of 2015. I don t seem to have any of the other common problems such as stiffness, upset stomach, etc. but I do have insomnia quite frequently. Any advise you can give me will be appreciated. Betty Marney

Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

Doctors aren't sure why aromatase inhibitors cause muscle and joint pain. Aromatase inhibitors work by lowering the amount of estrogen in the body. This estrogen decrease is probably part of the cause of these side effects. All the women had muscle and bone pain that began after they started taking Arimidex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
