What Causes Stiffness In The Neck Along With Headaches?

i have had a stiff neck for a week now. sometimes it generates a headache or some shooting pain in my head. it seems to have tenderness at the base of my skull and the two large muscles on either side are tender. it is dificult for me to turn my head right or leaft.

Welcome to ask a doctor online service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Stiff neck if associated with fever and vomiting it's a sign of meningitis. If you do not have fever , vomiting then it may be a cervical spondylitis.
I suggest you to do Complete blood count and x ray neck.
Uptill you can take tab. Voveran SR 50mg two times a day. But for proper diagnosis you need to do the above mentioned investigations.
