What Causes Stinging Sensation In The Mouth And Tongue?

Thank you....

I have recently been having a sensation in my mouth, on my tongue more specifically that could be compared to the stinging one gets from a paper-cut. It's like an irritated sensation that also could be compared to the one gets from eating too much pinapple; aftr a while of eating pineapple the tongue begins to sting
Additionally I have had a stye on my left eye, twice within a ew weeks and seemingly at the same spot of my upper eye lid on the left eye and then this evening I feel a little pain, like at the onset of a stye on my reight eye, upper lid. I am wondering what's going on and if there is a connection between those sentaions.
Could it all be related to a herpes Type 1 infection?
Typos above... please excuse... should read right eye, upper lid.... and is there are a connection between those sensations?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that stinging sensation in mouth and tongue which seems like paper cut or eating excess pineapple that is due to soreness seems to be due to Apthous Stomatitis leading to inflammation inside mouth..
Stye does not seems to be due to similar cause while can be due to infection in the gland present in the eyelids..
It can be due to side effect of medication while other causes can be deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, stress, physical trauma to the tongue, allergies, acid reflux etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests can help in diagnosis..
Treatment of underlying cause will relieve the symptoms..
As of now you can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve the symptoms.
You can also take a multivitamin tablet daily..
You can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Suck ice and do cool water rinses..
Avoid spicy food..
For stye you should start doing warm compresses over the bump..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
