What Causes Stomach Pain And Blood In Stool In A Child?

My daughter, age 6 has been complaining about her Tummy hurting. She has had loose stolls for a week or so and the past few days has had mucus and blood in her stools. She seems fine, she plays and eats and pees normally. What might be the problem?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possibility of a gastroenteritis must be ruled out. Consult a paediatrician and get evaluated. A stool routine is required to make a diagnosis. Antibiotics like ciprofloxacin may be required empirically.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
