What Causes Stomach Pain And Blood In Stools?

im 43 and for the last few months my stomach hurts and when i go to the bathroom its mostly blood when i have a bowel movment what could be the cause ? not all the time sometimes i go for weeks without bleeding then for 3 days i do any advice

Hi,

Your symptoms point towards dysentery like an intestinal infection. I suggest you get investigated with stool routine micro examination first for primary work up. If it shows pus cells, bacteria than metronidazole or ornidazole like broad-spectrum antibiotic course should be prescribed. If stool report normal than proctoscopy needs to be done for further work up.
