Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My two year old burps a lot and complains of stomach pain. She is irritable the majority of the time, and sometimes presents this irritability with behavioral issues (biting, hitting, pinching) regardless of the consequence (time out). She will wake up screaming in the middle of the night and complain of stomach pain, and I can hear her stomach rumbling. She sounds like she is possibly reswallowing at times. When she does burp, it could be several hours after she has eaten.
Im sorry to hear that about your child. Frequent burping can be caused by too much air in the digestive tract. This can happen when someone eats or drinks too quickly; when she consumes carbonated drinks or foods high in starch, sugar or fibers. Frequent burping and stomach ache can be signs of Gatroesophageal Reflux Disease or what we call as GERD. The acid from the stomach goes back. this can be caused by missing meals, consuming acidic food, stress and anxiety. I suggest that you have your child checked to be given proper medication and advise.
