Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your son having Barrettes since he was 7 and now is 30 years old, has undergone 2 plication surgery, undergone upper GI
Endoscopy and found that the pylorus is lax may be widened, wants to know whether this can cause not gaining weight, stomach pains, nausea and inability to empty his bowels...
As per the history you have provided about your son, the symptoms can not be solely due to lax pylorus; this can cause
bile reflux,
gastritis and add on
gastroesophageal reflux disease, nausea, vomiting and can be a reason for loosing weight.
I would advise him the following in such a situation.
To follow the proper medication and diet protocol to at least avoid further progress.
Get enteroclysis or contrast enhanced CT scan of abdomen with enterography to see if there are any other associated problems like sub-
acute intestinal obstruction or so on.
If such thing is found, this will need a proper diagnosis an management.
