Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Alright. It s gross, but here goes. A while back I was constipated, so naturally my grandma suggests prunes. I had some (like 5) every three or four days for like a month. Weird thing was, at the same time my poo started smelling sweet. (No joke.) I put it off as nothing, figuring it was the prunes, right? Well, it s been like two weeks since I ve had any, and I ve been having normal BM s since then. But today it randomly smelled sweet again... but with like a weird sickly undertone. Also, I feel kind of like weak and shaky today. Is this serious? Could I have high blood sugar or something?
Sweet smelling stools can be caused by certain drugs and medications including prunes, which is not something to worry about. However, it may cause loose stools, for which you need to keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water and consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.
