What Causes Sudden Increase In BP With Dizziness And Fatigue?

I am 51, Been taking 500mg amoxicillin daily,noticed after the second day hypertension,dizziness and almost falling when standing,while at pharmacy checked Bp, reading was 149/80 heart rate was 81,I can feel the pounding in my neck and temple areas and also hear my heart pounding also pain in the left side where neck and shoulder meet.Tiredness after standing for a short while and deep sleeping,waking dizzy and heavy headed.
I have always had normal blood pressure

Thanks for contacting HCM. dear patient you have not mentioned why are you taking amoxycillin? Are you having cough and cold, as amoxycillin does not raise blood pressure. If you were having cough and cold then are you taking some syrup or cold tablet? If yes, then some of them have some ingredients which can raise blood pressure. Also a BP of 149/80 is not considered very high, as systolic reading of 149 could be erroneous as probably you are using an electronic BP instrument which are usually inaccurate. Also when we are ill some times due to stress of illness, systolic BP may rise transiently. some cough syrups have ingredients which can cause your symptoms. Still, i would suggest that you go to a qualified doctor, get your BP checked with an electronic sphygmomanometer and get an E.C.G. done as preliminary investigations to rule out cardiac problems.
