What Causes Sudden Increase In BP With Mild Nausea And Headache?
I have high blood pressure which came on quite suddenly within the last two years. I am generally healthy , not overweight, low cholesterol, don t drink much or smoke, and fairly active. It fluctuates a lot but on average is about 160/105. My doctor has prescribed ACE inhibitors, but so far (About 10 days) they have had no effect on my blood pressure, while making me feel fairly ill - light-headed, mild nausea and headache, difficulty concentrating. Should I persist with the pills or ask for something different?
Hello! I read your question and understand your concern. I would like to know you age. I would recommend to have some tests to find out any possible cause of this high blood pressure: a full blood work, renal and kidney function tests, an abdominal ultrasound, etc. I recommend you to continue treatment for high blood pressure. If you don't tolerate ACE-inhibitors you can switch into another drug not of this group. I would also advise you to have some changes in your diet, avoid caffeine and salt and take a lot of omega 3 fatty acids. High blood pressure if uncontrolled leads to damage to the vessels, causing stroke. Hope to have been of help. Greetings! Dr. Abaz Quka
