What Causes Sudden Locking Of Knee Joints?

3 year old male with sudden onset of locked knee joint. will not bend leg and can not force leg to bend. walks with leg straight. will only bend unaffected leg to pick up item on floor. off/on for 2 weeks, but today is constant stiffness. Not complaining of pain. xrays negative. no fever.

Hi...the possibilities include -
1. Locked knee due to anterior or posterior cruciate ligament sprain during pay.
2. Non-infectious reactive effusion.
3. Weakness of the flexor muscles of the knee joint due to neurological illness.
4. Habitual mannerism.

I suggest you consult a pediatric orthopedic surgeon.
