What Causes Sudden Loose And Unresponsive Body In An Infant?

Hello Doctor My son is 8 months old and from last couple of days he is not well i mean all of a sudden his body becomes so loose and there will be no motion in his body. Eyes will be open and he can see us and respond with eyes but not with body (hand/legs) will not move. This happens only for 45 to 90 seconds and then back to normal. Please suggest.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

What you are describing is kind of seizure typically absence seizures. Child becoming unresponsive in between is not normal. Please consult a pediatric neurologist. Get EEG, MRI done and get treated as early as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prasanna Lakshmi, Pediatrician
