What Causes Sudden Onset Of Acute Pain In The Left Upper Abdomen?

Sudden onset of acute pain in left upper abdomen. At first I thought gas, but kept getting worse. I had been sitting, so stood up to walk it off and the pain intensified to the point of feeling like I would vomit. Lay down for a while and it is better, but very, very sore and uncomfortable. No more nausea.

kidney .
* Needs ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis to get the final diagnosis .
