What Causes Sudden Pain In Joints?

What could be the cause of sudden pain in joints such as thumb and wrist, pain in back of neck near base of skull, with tightness and stiffness, and my wife noticed light red blotches on my skin all over my chest, belly, and back. I have also been very tired for the past couple of weeks.

Hello,

Sometimes autoimmune diseases (and there are many different types), can cause joint pain as well as fatigue and rashes.

Thankfully, there are many very good drugs to treat these, if you happen to have one.

I would see your PCP or a rheumatologist where they will order specific labs looking for autoimmune diseases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Daniel Richard Paull, Orthopaedic Surgeon
