What Causes Sudden Stomach Pain With Nausea And Joint Pain?

I am 68 years old, fit and healthy although can not put on weight and have lost about 3 kg over last 2 months. Yesterday I had a short approx 12 hour session as follows: Woke up feeling well althogh missed my usual early morning bowel movement. Then 1 hour after usual breakfast of oats and yoghurt, I started to feel vague stomach pain (or from region roughly under and around the lower part of my sternum), then slowly a slight nausea which after ~1 hour gave way to feeling of impending diahorrea which soon passed without incident. I ate a small lunch and did not have my usual good appetite. Then I started to feel flu like muscle and joint pains, also headache and some chest pain and then cold shivers. The cold shivers got very strong over the next 6 hours or so - stronger than I ever recall before and I was actually shaking. After a somewhat relieving hot bath I went to bed at 6pm and felt very hot but not unpleasant and not sweaty. I felt a bit better at about 8pm and had a spicy soup for dinner, took an antacid (qikeze) before sleeping reasonably well all night and woke up with the hot fever abated and only a slight headache, had breakfast and felt back to normal by about lunch time. Over the last few weeks and continuing now I have had indigestion/burning much more than usual.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
All the complex symptoms that you have noted like nausea, diarrhea, fever, body ache and now indigestion and burning for about a week indicate that you have sub-acute form of gastroenteritis either bacterial or viral.
This can be identified by the following:
Clinical evaluation and examination by a Doctor.
Investigations of stool and urine.
Blood tests for CBC, Typhoid, culture and sensitivity.
Ultrasonography of abdomen.
All these points will guide for a proper diagnosis and thus can be treated accordingly with an antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotics, electrolyte solution.
Use boiled and cooled water.
Consume only homemade foods and beverages.
Maintain hydration.
