Hi,

Swelling at the injection site after administering ranitidine can be caused by several factors. One possible cause is an allergic reaction to the medication, which can cause swelling, redness, and itching at the site of injection. Another possible cause is infiltration, which occurs when the medication leaks into the surrounding tissue instead of going into the vein. This can cause swelling, pain, and redness at the injection site.

It is also possible that the injection was not given correctly, even if it appeared to be so at the time. It is important to ensure that the injection is given into a vein and not surrounding tissue, as this can cause swelling and other complications.

If the patient is experiencing swelling or pain at the injection site, it is important to monitor the area and report any changes or worsening symptoms to a healthcare provider. Treatment may include applying warm compresses to the area, elevating the affected limb, and taking pain relievers as needed. In severe cases, medical intervention may be necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

It may be either hypersensitivity reaction to ranitidine which may lead to swelling and/or pain on the local site; anti-allergics would help or thrombophlebitis of the vein which may lead to swelling n discoloration with pain. Ice pack application or Thrombophlebitis Gel would help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
