What Causes Swelling And Bleeding In Gums And Sores In Mouth In Toddler?
Toddler fever, swollen, bleeding gums
My 3 yr old had a low range fever (99-101 degrees) for about 4 days. His fever has subsided, but now his gums have become swollen and bleeding with sores/blisters on his lips, in his mouth and on his tongue for the last 3 days. What could this be? and what can he take to alleviate the pain that he is obviously in. He's eating (less than normal) and playing, but he hasn't slept well for several days already. Will this go away on its own? Does it sound like it may be contagious as I have a 6 month old at home also.
thank you for your question. its most likely viral followed by mouth ulcers which are commonly. playful child supports this . and obviuosly he has problems in eating. pls start him on following. 1. oral vitamin syrup twice daily. 2. lignocaine viscous is a liquid preparation acting as anaesthetic , mix it with syrup benadryl 5 ml and give him before sleeping. it alleviates pain n gives sleep.. 3. oral zinc preparations and orasep or zytec for local application.. please recheck if he is vaccinated till date n also if he had rash during this episode. any suspicion of measles then he would also reqire vitamin A.
