What Causes Swelling And Blue Discoloration On The Foot?
My Mother has a swollen blue foot and part of the discoloration is moving up her leg. Everyone is trying to get her to go get it checked at the E.R. but she refuses to. She s 62 years old and has had multiple surgeries due to her having polio as a child. We are very concerned about her. She does take medication for high blood pressure, cholesteral, panic attacks, depression and many more. She mostly gets around on a wheelchair so she s not on her feet very often. I am concerned about her and wanted to know what it could possibly be or if it s life threatening.
Hello Welcome to Ask a Doctor service I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Swollen and discoloration (Blue foot ) with the history of polio it is the matter of concern and it should nerve be taken as granted because it is indication of circulatory disturbances, it may lead to gangrene if proper care is not being taken in time, such case demands the immediate medical attention. Hope I have answered your query, let me know for any further assist.
