What Causes Swelling And Numbness In The Lip And Cheek?

I have a patient who has been having episodic swelling which first started in his lip and cheek. Initially he has numbness but no pain or itching. This went away and he has had numerous recurrences in numerous locations. They usually go away in a few days. But has continued to have recurrences. No history of tick bite. Has stopped all meds. Has been treating with benedryl with some success. No fever or joint pains.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since Benadryl is having some effects, allergic reaction should be the first diagnosis. Get the pin-prick tests done to your patient.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
