What Causes Swelling And Red Bruise On Thigh After Knee Replacement Surgery?

my husband had knee replacement surgery one week ago today. He came home last friday. since he has been home the surgery leg has a lot of swelling along with a large reddish bruise on the back of the upper thigh. I took him to the ER on sunday night was told that this was ok and to elevate the leg with ice. We have been doing this and now the other leg is swelling. He has a past history of deep vein thrombosis in the leg that had the surgery. I put in a call to our family doctor yesterday, but didn t hear back. He now tells me that both feet are tingling. should I take him back to the ER
